Hongju founded Admat Inc. in 1997.

Hongju is a highly respected expert in the field of tantalum and niobium metals, with over 35 years of valuable experience, education, and understanding of tantalum production methods. He founded Admat Inc. in 1997 and has since played a crucial role in the industry with his exceptional contributions to the technologies used in this field.

Prior to starting Admat Inc., Hongju served as the R&D Manager at Cabot Supermetals in Boyertown, PA, where he developed innovative technologies that yielded four US patents and numerous publications. These included two patents that defined processes for improved control of size distribution and one that improved the performance of high-capacitance tantalum powder. Before that, he developed pilot processes at Smith Kline Pharmaceuticals.

With a PhD in Chemical Engineering, Hongju possesses a deep understanding of the complex chemistry involved in tantalum and niobium production. His extensive knowledge of tantalum strip and foil for use in the production of high-reliability tantalum wet and hybrid capacitors also makes him a key resource for the industry. He has a unique ability to develop and implement new processes, and his experience and knowledge of tantalum production methods enable him to provide Admat’s customers with high-quality products that meet their specific needs.

Eric von Spreckelsen

Eric von Spreckelsen, Director of Sales & Operations

Since 1998, Eric has had responsibility for the sales of refractory metals throughout North America, Europe and Asia.

Eric is a very experienced sales professional with over 25 years of experience in the refractory metals industry. His extensive industry knowledge and network have enabled him to successfully work with a variety of industries, including defense, aerospace, semiconductor, superconductor, medical, energy and chemical processing.

Throughout his career, Eric has made significant contributions to the tantalum industry, including developing new product forms and alloys, reducing cycle times, shortening product lead times, and inventing new technology to improve the grain structure in tantalum for semiconductor applications. Since joining Admat in 2009, his expertise has been instrumental in expanding Admat’s product portfolio to include machined parts, tantalum coilsets, explosively bonded tantalum, and new metals such as tungsten, molybdenum, and most recently tungsten heavy alloys and C-103.

Eric’s exceptional career is marked by numerous notable achievements, including supplying custom alloys for space exploration, including the Mars Rover. He has also designed new technology for NASCAR and he was lead inventor on a U.S patent improving tantalum microstructure for use in microchip production. His expertise has been essential in supplying high-tech alloys for use in fusion energy development, as well as supplying engineered metals for essential defense projects.

Eric’s contributions to these and many other groundbreaking projects are a testament to his ability to leverage his extensive experience and expertise to drive innovation and achieve extraordinary results. He has earned a reputation as a leading authority in the refractory metals industry, with a track record of delivering high-quality products and services to his clients.

Prior to his career with refractory metals, Eric sold electrical industrial process heating systems to manufacturers in various industries. He holds a BS in Business Administration with a specialization in Marketing and Management from Thomas A Edison University in Trenton, New Jersey.


Allen Chang

Allen Chang, Engineering Manager

Allen is a key contributor to our custom fabrication services and quality control processes.

Allen is a highly valued member of the Admat team, having joined us in 2006. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Villanova University and has experience studying at Tsinghua University in Beijing. His engineering background and AutoCAD experience make him a key contributor to Admat’s custom fabrication and engineering services.

As the point person for product design and prototype development, Allen ensures that all requirements are met to the highest standards. As Engineering Manager, he works closely with our customers to understand their needs and specifications and oversees the design process from start to finish. With his expertise and attention to detail, he creates detailed and accurate metal components that meet the specific needs of each customer.

In addition to his role in product design, Allen plays a vital role in Admat’s semiconductor component business. He is highly experienced in materials such as tantalum and niobium, as well as other sputtering target materials including hafnium, vanadium, and chromium, to name a few. Allen is also responsible for incoming product quality control for many of our most complex parts with the most demanding requirements. He is dedicated to ensuring that all products meet the required specifications and uses third-party labs to confirm product quality.

Allen’s attention to detail and commitment to quality control ensure that Admat’s customers receive only the highest quality products. His knowledge and experience in mechanical engineering, combined with his expertise in product design and quality control, make him a significant asset to Admat and its customers.

Bob Balliett

Bob Balliett, Technical Metallurgical Consultant

Mr. Robert W. Balliett is a consultant providing technical support to the metals industry. He is an experienced operations and technology manager with extensive experience in product and process development. Mr. Balliett has expertise in the refractory metals including powder fabrication, vacuum metallurgy, vacuum melting, casting, forging, extrusion, rolling, lubrication, fabrication, and wire drawing. He has metallurgical operations experience with a variety of specialty high value metals including aluminum, copper, lead, zinc, niobium, tantalum, molybdenum and the precious metals serving the microelectronic component, semiconductor, chemicals, medical equipment, military, coatings, power, and aerospace industries.
